Monday, November 13, 2017 at 9:00 am
 
Rolling Hills Public Charter School’s students would like to invite you to our Veterans Day Assembly, honoring all who serve our country!  Please share this invitation with any Veteran you know, we would love to have the opportunity to honor them.
 
Our program will include Presentation of the American Flag, Children’s Choir, Wall of Honor, Reading of Presidential Proclamation, sounding of “Taps”, and a reception for veterans afterwards.  Ceremony to be about 30-45 minutes
 
When:           Monday, November 13, 2017 at 9:00 am
Where:         Rolling Hills is located below the Idaho Veterans Cemetery

RHPCS Spirit Wear available for Pre-Order through 11/10/17

​We are pleased to make Rolling Hills spirit wear items available by pre-order through November 10, 2017.  A variety of styles of spirit wear items are being made available with the RHPCS “Achieving More” crest logo.  These items have been selected for appealing styling and durability at a reasonable price point.  Note: The non-collared spirit t-shirts can be worn on Fridays only.  All other items are everyday school appropriate.
 
To order, complete the attached order form and return with payment by November 10, 2017.  Payment can be made by check payable to RHPCS, exact cash, or online by debit/credit card at: https://rhpcsstore.maxgiving.com/

Let’s CAN Hunger!
Please help Kindergarten collect food to support The Idaho Foodbank.
When: Oct. 23-Nov. 10
Where: In your classroom! Each classroom will have a bin. The first classroom to fill their bin will earn a party with the Kindergarten class.
What to bring:

Canned meats (beef, chicken, spam, tuna) and canned fruits
Canned or boxed dinners (beef stew, raviolis, spaghetti)
Cereal
  • Hamburger or Tuna Helper and Macaroni and Cheese
  • Pasta/Rice (plain or mixes)
  • Peanut Butter & Jelly
  • Spaghetti sauce
  • Baking items
  • Toilet paper
  • Personal care items (shampoo, toothpaste, soap)
  • Household cleaning items

REMINDER – No School Friday, October 27 & Friday, November 3:
  • Friday, October 27 – No School for Students – Teacher Work Day for report card & conference preparation
  • Friday, November 3 - No School for Students  - Parent-Teacher Conferences held throughout the day, 8:00 am – 2:40 pm
 
REMINDER:  No afterschool Clubs (except Art Class) during Parent Teacher Conference Week (Oct. 30-Nov. 3)
We will be cancelling our afterschool clubs (Homework Club, Root 4 Green, Chess Club, STEM Club) during Parent-Teacher Conference week.  Cancelling these programs for this week allows our teachers who normally facilitate these programs to have time to prepare and be available for our afterschool conference times.  If your child normally attends one or more of these programs, please make arrangements for your child/children to be picked up at the 2:30 p.m. regular end to the school day this week.  Note:  Mrs. Balkin’s Afterschool Art Class WILL be held on Thursday, Nov. 2.

​RHPCS Pink Out $2 “Free” Dress Day is this Friday, 10/20/17
 
October is national Breast Cancer Awareness Month
  • Students and staff are invited to join together to show support for people with breast cancer by purchasing a “Free” Dress Day for $2 this Friday, October 20.  Proceeds from this event will go to the National Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
  • Students that want to participate, but have not already donated the $2 are still welcome to participate – wear your free dress outfit and bring your donation to the class to be collected in the morning.
  • Pink is the national color for breast cancer awareness – including pink in your free dress outfit is highly encouraged!
 
A big “Thank You” goes out to the handful of middle-school students who thought up this service opportunity, brought it to Mr. Pratt for approval, and implemented.  What a way to recognize a need and serve your community.  Whoot!Whoot!

​RHPCS School Board Election
Vote Now through October 19, 2017
 
The time for the RHPCS School Board elections is upon us.  Four (4) positions are available during this election: two (2) Parent seat and two (2) either Parent or Community Member seats.  Board positions are elected for a two-year term. 
 
We have 4 candidates for this election: Christopher Wilson (incumbent), Jennifer Sweet-Fears (incumbent), Dilara Dyer, and Joe Critchfield (incumbent).  Visit the RHPCS School Board website at:  http://rhcschoolboard.weebly.com/ to view each candidate’s application.  Prior to the Annual Meeting and ballot count, we will host a “Meet & Greet the Candidates” time on Thursday, October 19 at 5:00 p.m.  Feel free to come meet the candidates in person and ask candidates any questions.
 
The official Ballot is now available on the school board webpage, is attached with this email, and hard copies are available and can be completed and submitted at the school office. 
 
Who can vote?  Only stakeholders are allowed to vote. You are a stakeholder if you are a parent or legal guardian of a RHPCS student, a RHPCS staff member or RHPCS teacher. Only one vote per stakeholder.
 
How do I vote? Ballots may be printed from this email or from the school board website. Vote by completing your ballot at the school or complete the ballot at your convenience and drop it off or mail to the school address: 8900 Horseshoe Bend Road, Boise, ID 83714. Ballots should be in an envelope marked “election” and be received by 5:30 p.m. on October 19, 2017 in order to be valid.
 
Counting Ballots: The ballots will be counted at the RHPCS Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 19, 2017 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Ballots will be counted by the Clerk of the Board and the School Administrator. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
 
Announce New Board Members: The new Board members will be announced at the Annual Meeting on October 19, 2017. New Board members will be posted on the website.
 
Swear in new Board Members: New Board members are required to submit for a background check. The new Board members will be sworn in at the Board meeting after the results of the background checks are received by the school.

RHPCS Girls Basketball Team Forming Now - Practice begins 10/23

RHPCS Middle School Girls (grades 6-8) are invited to join the RHPCS Girls Basketball team, forming now.
Practice will be held at the RHPCS school gym beginning Monday, October 23 and will continue daily throughout the season (Monday-Friday) from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. 
 
RHC Middle School Girls Basketball Information:
 
Coach:  Frank Dea, fdea@rhpcs.org
 
Cost:
$50 team participation fee  Please submit team fee with attached participation form by first practice.
(Partial Financial Scholarships may be available on a need-basis.  Completed scholarship application is required – application is available at front office or can be emailed to you by request.)
 
Practice Start Date:
Monday, October 23rd
 
Practice Times & Locaton:
Practice runs after school from 2:30 - 4:00.  A light, nutritious, non-messy snack for afterschool is highly recommended.  Girls should come to practice daily in athletic clothes, basketball shoes, and with a water bottle.
 
Basketball Game Times:
Schedule is attached to this Information Sheet
 
Transportation:
Carpooling with RHC parents is typically available
*However,it is ultimately the parents’ responsibility to transport their children to and from away games*
 
Uniforms:
Girls will need athletic wear and basketball shoes for daily practice.  RHPCS Basketball Jerseys are provided by the school.  Students will need to provide and wear black athletic shorts a white undershirt and basketball shoes for games.
