Parents of RHPCS Volleyball Team Players,
RHPCS Volleyball Team Coaches Meisha Kurtz & Kim Harmon will be holding a Volleyball Parents Meeting  next Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 4:30 p.m.  This is an important meeting covering information critical for a successful season, each player should have at least one parent/guardian present for this meeting.  Please plan now to be able to attend.

RHPCS Families,
It’s not too late to register your child to participate in the After-School RHPCS Art Class.  Expert instruction and all needed supplies are included in the modest registration fee.  Bring your imagination and be ready to explore, create and achieve!  The 1st session of weekly classes begins this Thursday, August 31, 2017.  Details are given below and on attached flyer and registration form.

After-School RHPCS Art Class for 2016-2017
 
Rolling Hills is please to again be partnering with Barbara Balkin, Back Gate Studio Artist and Instructor, to offer an afterschool art program for Rolling Hills students.
 
RHPCS students in Grades 1-8 are invited to register to participate in Mrs. Balkin’s After-School Art Class on Thursdays from 2:45-3:45pm at RHPCS. In this class, children will learn and use the elements of art and basic art vocabulary as they learn to express themselves through their creations. Principles of design and color theory will be explored as they learn new skills.
 
RHPCS Art Class Details:
On Thursdays – 1st & 2nd sessions will be 10 weeks each, 3rd session will be 12 weeks
  • Session #1: Thursdays, August 31 - November 16, 2017 (No classes during Fall Break 10/5, 10/12)
  • Session #2: Thursdays, December 7, 2017 - February 22, 2018 (No class during Winter Break 12/28 and 1/4/18)
  • Session #3: Thursdays, March 1 - May 24, 2018 (No class during Spring Break 3/29) 
Classes held Thursdays from 2:45 – 3:45 p.m. in the RHPCS Café.
Pre-registration required.  Art class registration form is available at the school office, or can be printed from the attached form.  Submit your registration and class fee before the start of each session to reserve your spot and  to enroll your child/children to participate.
Class Fee $65/each for 1st & 2nd 10 week session, $78 for 3rd session (payable by check to Back Gate Studio) includes expert instruction and all class materials.  Sign up for all 3 session at the start of the school year and get $10 OFF!

If your child will be utilizing school breakfast and/or lunch, please be sure to keep your child’s food service payment account funded appropriately to keep a positive balance.  Account payments can be made at the school office by exact cash or check payable to RHPCS or online through our secure portal at: https://rhpcsfood.maxcheckout.com/
Feel free to stop by the front desk at Back-to-School night or in the first few days of school to check your child’s account balance and/or to add funds to his/her account.

Back-to-School Night 8/17 reminder - School Supply & Uniform assistance available

​Reminder:  You are invited to stop in tonight, Thursday, August 17 from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. to meet the teacher, see your classroom and drop off school supplies.  We are looking forward to seeing you tonight!
 
School Supply Assistance - Thanks to generous donation from the Assistance League’s “Operation School Supplies” philanthropic project, we have a variety of school supplies available to help those in financial need.  Available items include: pencils, crayons, Elmers white glue, glue sticks, felt markers, water colors, colored pencils, scissors, large pink erasers, rulers, spiral notebooks, composition books, filler paper, pocket folders, pens (black or red), binders (1” or 2”), divider tabs, highlighters, pencil boxes and bags, etc..  These supplies are available to those in need of assistance, no application or qualification process is required.  Contact the office for assistance.  Supplies will be in the Morton Computer lab and available for pick up, during Meet-the-Teacher night tonight, Friday, or early next week.  First come, first served basis.
 
Uniform Exchange Bins – Donated uniform clothing items (gently used) are available.  Stop in and take a few minutes to look through the uniform clothing bins (separated by boy/girl and size ranges) for uniform clothing items that your child may be able to utilize.  The bins are available all throughout the school year, but they will be temporarily located in the front office for easy access Thursday and Friday as well as the first few days of school.  Donation of items your child has outgrown are always welcome.   
 
About Operation School Supplies and the Assistance League of Boise
 
Operation School Supplies (OSS) is a philanthropic project of Assistance League of Boise (ALB).  OSS has been providing school supplies to the children of Ada Country since 1996.  This year the ALB will provide more than 90 elementary, middle, junior high, and charter schools with approximately $82,000 worth of school supplies.  The 12,000+ students selected by school counselors or teachers will receive supplies which include crayons, erasers, pencils, pens, glue sticks, rulers, notebook paper, spiral notebooks, paints, felt markers, colored pencils, and other items.
 
ALB is a member of National Assistance League and we are an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that puts caring and commitment into action through philanthropic projects in Ada County.  Other ALB programs include:  Operation School Bell, Teen Retail, History in the Bown House, Cinderella’s Closet, Project Hearing, Baby Bundles, and Empowering Youth.
 
Funds for our programs come from community donations, private contributions, grants, and the operation of the ALB Thrift Shop at 5825 Glenwood Avenue.  The public is invited to visit our Thrift Shop, and to support our programs by donating good quality used clothing and small household items.

Rolling Hills Public Charter School and other local charter schools are seeking substitute teachers and staff...
Are you looking for flexible work hours? Would you like to support teachers? Do you want to have a positive impact on students?
Become a substitute! You'll be a hero to teachers and students.
You don’t need special training or superpowers to become a substitute teacher, the only requirements for substitute teachers in Idaho are:
- A belief that all kids have promise and potential
- A desire to have a positive impact on students and to support teachers
- A belief in charter schools and support for school choice
- A flexible schedule during normal school hours
- A clear criminal background history check
- At least a high school diploma or GED
- At least 18 years of age
 
Experienced substitutes, new substitutes, and those just curious and interested in more information are invited and encouraged to attend the upcoming Substitute Teacher Orientation & Training that will be held Friday, August 18 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Rolling Hills Charter. This is a free professional development opportunity for new & experienced subs alike! Learn about schools and how to use our handy online scheduling tool. Finalize Your Student's 2017-2018 RHPCS Registration

Printable registration and authorization forms are now available on the school website, go to: http://www.rhpcs.org/enrollment-forms.html  Printing and completing these forms in advance will expedite the process and minimize your registration time at the office.
I look forward to seeing you during Drop-In Registration hours next week.
  • Tuesday, August 8 - Drop in 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • Wednesday, August 9 – Drop in 7:00 am – 2:00 pm
  • Thursday, August 10 – Drop in 11:00 am – 6:00 pm

**Registration Note for New Students to Rolling Hills:
For our students new to Rolling Hills this school year, if you accepted enrollment in the Spring during our lottery process, you should have already completed most of the necessary paperwork, thank you!  We ask that you still attend one of our “Drop-in to Finalize Registration” times to be able to double check and/or update information as entered and complete any additional forms as needed.  We’ll make your visit as quick and easy as possible!

RHPCS Girls Volleyball & Co-Ed Cross Country Teams forming soon!

HPCS Fall sports teams will be forming soon.  Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade are invited and encouraged to join the Girls Volleyball or Co-Ed Cross Country team.  Previous experience is not required. 
 
Rolling Hills Public Charter School is pleased to offer after school athletic team opportunities to our middle school students (grades 6, 7, & 8).  Our goal is to have RHPCS student athletes learn the fundamental of these sports, build a true team atmosphere within each program, display a high level of sportsmanship, and last but not least…have LOTS OF FUN!
 
Both teams will kick off with Pre-Season Clinics to be held on Thursday & Friday, August 17 & 18 from 10:00-11:30 am.  Students interested in joining either team are encouraged to attend and find out more.  Official First Day of Practice for both teams will be afterschool on the 1st day of school, Tuesday, August 22.  Hope to see you there!
