Seeking donations of paper plates/bowls for student use in cafe

4/10/2018

Rolling Hills Families:
We are once again running low on paper plates and bowls which are used for the purpose of heating up food from home in our microwaves during lunch time.  We are asking all Rolling Hills families, whose students make use of the microwaves, to please send in a package of paper plates and bowls in order to get us through until the end of the school year.  Unfortunately this is not an expense that food service can take on, so if we do not receive more of these paper products then students will no longer have the option of heating up their food on a plate or in a bowl in the microwaves.  Please send in your contributions to the cafe as soon as possible.
Thank you!

The next of the $5 “Free” Dress Days will be on Friday, May 4 – go ahead and send in an extra $5 (or more!) and let me add your child’s name to the list for that date too!!

Thank you for supporting Rolling Hills and our Playground Improvement Campaign!

P.S. – If you think you already paid and should be on this list, but don’t see your child’s name, will you please reply to this email and let me know.  It was a busy night that night!

ISAT Testing for grades 3-8 begins Monday, 4/9/18

4/3/2018

RHPCS Parents/Guardians of Students in Grades 3-8,

It is that time of the year to assess student's learning using Idaho State Assessment Tests (ISAT).  These assessments will be taking place starting on Monday, April 9 and continuing for the next several weeks.  These tests are not timed.  Testing will occur in multiple sessions, so students will typically spend 1 to 1.5 hours per day on the assessments over several days.

The ISAT is computer administered, will be utilized to assess English Language Arts (ELA), English Language Arts Performance Test (Write a multi-paragraph essay), Math, and Math Performance Test.  Students in grades 5 and 7 will also complete a Science assessment.  The ELA and Math test are Computer Adaptive to the skill of the child.  The performance tests will be skill based and the student must demonstrate through writing or showing their work how they complete the task.

These are important tests for your child.  The results will be a part of your child's educational records.  Students and parents can have greater success with the test administration process when they know what they are going to be tested on, why they are being tested, and how long they will be assessed.  The student needs to be prepared, take the assessment seriously, eat right, get plenty of sleep at night,  take their time (the tests are not timed), and use good test taking strategies.

Parents can access complete Practice Tests in English and math for grades 3 through 8 and 11 at http://idaho.portal.airast.org/training-tests.stml
Practice and Training Tests - ISAT Portal
idaho.portal.airast.org
The purpose of these practice tests and training tests is to become familiar with the system, functionality, and item types; the tests are not intended to guide classroom instruction.

I am available to discuss any of the assessments with you.  If you have questions or concerns please contact me by phone 208-939-5400 or e-mail spratt@rhpcs.org.  I would love to help you understand the assessments here at Rolling Hills.

Respectfully,

Shane Pratt, MSEd
