Miss Smith has been teaching for 12 years. The 2010-2011 school year is her first at Rolling Hills. Previously, Miss Smith taught at Van Buren School in Caldwell for five years and at Thomas Jefferson Charter School for six years. She is a Boise State University graduate.

This year, Miss Smith’s goal is to produce a first grade class of happy, eager-to-learn, and academically successful students. Toward that end, she starts the school year teaching students to read–which is her passion and favorite part of teaching first grade—so that the children become confident in their ability to read and begin to enjoy it.

In 1994, Miss Smith moved to Boise where she lives with her daughter Teagan Kerley and two dogs Kota and Hank. They enjoy camping, boating, and snowmobiling.

Miss Smith’s favorite author is Nicholas Sparks and her favorite book is The True Story of the Three Little Pigs.
