Homework Club on Mondays & Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 12 - Rolling Hills will again be offering an after school Homework Club to be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m., beginning Sept. 12, 2016. Students in grades 1-8 are invited and encouraged to participate. RHPCS staff will be on hand to facilitate the program and assist students. Homework Club is intended to help students improve academic performance; it is not a social forum. Students will need to bring to each session any necessary homework materials (assignments, pencil, paper) and a reading book for use if they complete their work before dismissal time. There is no charge for students to participate in Homework Club, however in order to best plan space and staffing, we ask that students be pre-registered to participate. Chess Club on Tuesdays beginning Sept. 13 – Mr. Scott, Rolling Hills’ own fun and fantastic Middle School teacher (8th Grade Homeroom and much more) will be supervising and looks forward to teaching and playing chess with students. This year our Chess Club program will be open to RHPCS students in grades 3-8, all chess ability levels are welcome. Chess Club will be held on Tuesdays from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m., beginning September 13 and continuing on school-in-session Tuesdays until mid-May. There is no charge for students to participate in Chess Club, however in order for us to best plan space and equipment needed, we ask that students be pre-registered to participate. RHPCS Kids’ Art Class on Thursdays beginning Sept. 1 - Rolling Hills is please to again be partnering with Barbara Balkin, Back Gate Studio Artist and Instructor, to offer an afterschool art program for Rolling Hills students. In this class, children will learn and use the elements of art and basic art vocabulary as they learn to express themselves through their creations. Principles of design and color theory will be explored as they learn new skills. RHPCS students in Grades 1-8 are invited to register to participate in Art Class on Thursdays from 2:45-3:45pm at RHPCS. Art Class will be available in 3 sessions of 10 weeks each
- Session #1: Thursdays, September 1 - November 17, 2016 (No classes during Fall Break 10/6, 10/13, and during Thanksgiving break 11/21-11/25)
- Session #2: Thursdays, December 8, 2016 - February 2, 2017 (No class during Winter Break 12/22 and 12/29)
- Session #3: Thursdays, March 2 - May 11, 2017 (No class during Spring Break 3/23)
Class Fee $50/each 10 week session (payable by check to Back Gate Studio) includes expert instruction and all class materials. Sign up for all 3 session at the start of the school year and get $10 OFF! Pre-registration required. Cub Scouts (not held at RHPCS): RHPCS boys in grades 1-5 are invited to join Cub Scout Pack #146 that meets at Shadow Hills Elementary. Shadow Hills Elementary is located about 2 miles east of RHPCS at: 8301 W. Sloan St, Boise, ID 83714. The date of the kick-off meeting is still to be determined. Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council (not currently held at RHPCS, but troops forming now): Make New Friends, Try New Things, Make a Difference, Have Fun, Succeed! New troops are forming in the area.
