Please read this letter to your new Kinder,
WOOT! WOOT! You are officially in elementary school. I bet your parents can't believe it. I am so happy that you will be joining our class this year at Rolling Hills. In Kindergarten, we like to learn, explore, laugh and most importantly HAVE FUN! We will make memories that you will remember even when you are old!!
I want to invite you and your family to stop by to visit me at the school on Thursday, August 10 between 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. Please plan on staying for at least 10-15 minutes. You’ll have a chance to meet me and our classroom assistant, Mrs. Post, see the classroom, drop off your school supplies (if you have them already) and show me how much you already know!
I can't wait to meet you all and get to know every single one of you.
Please visit our class website at the link below for updates and important information!
Rolling Hills Public Charter School
About Mrs. Korn:
The first time I knew I wanted to teach, was in the third grade. From then on, I did things in elementary school, high school and college to help me reach that goal. I graduated in 2009 from Boise State University with a degree in Elementary Education, completing my student teaching at Rolling Hills. After graduation, I married my wonderful husband and middle school friend, Paul Korn. In 2012, we joined the Peace Corps and moved to Ethiopia, Africa. For 5 months, we lived amongst the locals and taught all ages of students. We have a 3 year old daughter, Neeka Rene. She is a mover, loving to run and jump where ever she goes. She keeps us on our toes and huge smiles on our faces! This summer we welcomed our second child, a handsome boy, Landon William. He is the happiest, most mellow baby and had completed our family. For fun, I enjoy traveling the world experiencing different foods and cultures, hiking and camping in the beautiful Idaho mountains, playing volleyball and softball and enjoying a good movie at our home in Meridian.
This is my fifth year teaching kindergarten at Rolling Hills and I am also the Title 1 Coordinator. I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to once again work at Rolling Hills. I am confident that we will work together and create a great year for all of us!
About Mrs. Post
I am originally from Utah. I attended Utah State University and University of Utah majoring in Child Development. I have my associates degree and am a paraprofessional. I have had twenty years in Childhood Education. I was a teacher at a Head Start Program in Salt Lake City for 4 years before moving to Montana. While living in Missoula I taught a program called Joy School. We then moved to Idaho where I was employed as a teacher at A Child's Life Montessori for 4 years teaching Kindergarten. I am entering my eleventh year with Rolling Hills. I have held numerous titles here at Rolling Hills. I started out as an E.A. for Kindergarten for 2 years; then moved to 1st grade for two years; I was then moved to 2nd grade to help with the 1st/2nd grade combo class. For the last 4 years I have been a Title 1 teacher. I have also been over the IRI testing of Kindergarten - 3rd grade students and oversight of the ELL Students that attend our school. I have also worked as the reading specialist for students that are struggling. This has been a most rewarding experience! I love working with children and helping them learn and gain confidence in themselves. It has been a blessing in my life. My hobbies are walking/hiking in the mountains, skiing, but mostly reading! Looking forward to seeing you this fall!
