Personal motto: “You are your own opportunity, take advantage of your opportunities and do your best!!!” Click Here to access her classroom website. |
Mrs. Phillips is not someone who likes to stand still. She has been a teacher for nine years and the last three were spent at Rolling Hills. Teaching is only part of her story.
Mrs. Phillips is a graduate from Ricks College with a degree in journalism. Then she attended Boise State University and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She is certified to teach kindergarten through 8th grade. Today, Mrs. Phillips is enrolled in the Master’s program at the University of Idaho and plans to complete her degree in Educational Administration. Before coming to Rolling Hills, Mrs. Phillips was a reporter for the Idaho Statesman. Then she owned a tutoring company. Later, Mrs. Phillips opened an in-home childcare that she maintained for 10 years while her children were young. At one time, she worked for the State of Idaho as the result of an education quality grant. After a 6-year stint as a virtual teacher, Mrs. Phillips decided it was time to head to the classroom and see the faces of her students. When asked what has been her most satisfying teaching experience, Mrs. Phillips said, “Working with the kids and watching the light bulb come on, watching them develop a love of learning, and watching their confidence grow.” Her goal for students is that everyone gains confidence and become intrinsic in their passion for learning. A long-time resident of Idaho, Mrs. Phillips currently lives in Eagle with her family, which includes her husband, three sons, daughter, and dogs. She enjoys running, reading, baking, scrapbooking and playing with her children. Mrs. Phillips loves all types of writing, but love Shannon Hale’s books for her simple, sweet style. Her favorite children’s authors include Dave Pilkey, Anthony Browne, Shel Silverstein, and Dr. Seuss. |
